Exploration well NS394-1A, located in the North Shadwan concession in the Southern Gulf of Suez, was completed by Gulf of Suez Petroleum Company (GUPCO) on October, 2007.
The well penetrated some 200ft of net oil sandstones within the Nubia formation at a depth of 10777 feet subsea. The discovered oil is considered of light type, 37o API.
The Nubia Formation is an extremely prolific reservoir across the Gulf of Suez, characterized by high well initials and recovery factors and forms the primary reservoir in the October and Ramadan fields, amongst others.
